Before I was successful at getting and maintaining more energy, I was tired all the time and felt guilty for being snappy with my family. I woke up feeling unrefreshed and exhausted. I would rely on tea to keep me going through the day. Also I felt stressed all the time and would struggle with poor concentrate at work, have a 3pm energy slump and try not to fall asleep on my desk. I would lay awake at night desperately trying to fall asleep.

I went to my doctor and after a year of tests which all came back negative, a Neurologist diagnosed me with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and referred me back to my GP. After visiting my GP who referred me to a local CFS CBT course which didn’t help..

I was determined to get well and fed up with the lack of support from doctors, I decided to do my own research. I sat in front of the computer in the evening, barely about to concentrate, and read about natural therapies for fatigue.

At one point during my illness I signed up for a monthly ME/CFS newsletter that was posted to me. It had reviews on different therapies for ME/CFS and in one issue it mentioned acupuncture. So I decided to try that and booked an appointment Although the acupuncture only had a short-term benefit, my acupuncturist referred me onto a Naturopathic Nutritionist who gave me a nutrition and supplement plan that was the key to my recovery.
